A 54-year-old Kercem man, Gregory Stellini, pleaded not guilty in the Gozo Court today, after he was accused of attempting to injure Police Constable Savio Vassallo, when he drove his truck at him at the end of the Kercem Village Feast last Sunday.
Gregory Stellini had tried to gain access through a road that was closed because of the feast. The Police Constable stopped him and the accused started to argue with him. The Constable then issued him with a ticket.
Stellini returned to his truck and allegedly drove at Constable Vassallo, knocking him over.
Mr Stellini was also charged with driving negligently and ignoring Police orders.
He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €3000. Inspector Bernard Spiteri prosecuted and the accused was represented by Deborah Mercieca.
