KSU hits back at BirdLife comments on opening of spring hunting seasonKaccaturi San Ubertu (KSU) has said that in reference to BirdLife Malta’s statement and what is being referred to as a “controversial hunting season,” it reiterated that “controversy is what BirdLife persists in making a perfectly legal hunting season under derogation, as permitted by EU Directives.”

KSU added that “as for the comment about a `scientific justification’ for spring hunting, KSU refers to the EU approved Framework Legislation that justifies the application of a derogation whenever the previous autumn hunt does not offer a satisfactory solution.”

Far from the season opening due to “political promises” this year’s spring hunting season, similar to all others that were opened, was opened following the evaluation of fact, the hunters said.

Kaccaturi San Ubertu, concluded by saying, “as is to be expected BirdLife Malta’s baseless incessant objection to spring hunting revolves around the usual casting of doubt on the veracity of hunters reports, strict enforcement and the vile criticism of any political party that upholds the hunters’ rights to a spring season as determined by the European Court of justice and the majority of the Maltese population.”

KSU should thank the majority of Gozitans not “the majority of the Maltese”, because in Malta the Referendum was won by those who oppose this grotesque Spring Hunting!
