Malta & World Health Organisation sign Biennial Collaborative AgreementThis week Health Parliamentary Secretary Chris Fearne and The World Health Organisation Regional Director for Europe Zsuzsanna Jakab signed a Biennial Collaborative Agreement in the Health Sector between Malta and the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The ceremony took place in WHO European Regional Office in Copenhagen during an official visit by Dr Fearne.

The Biennial Collaborative Agreement allows for WHO to provide technical and financial help in implementing some of Malta’s health policies.

Specifically WHO will help Malta in the completion of the National Food Consumption Survey being conducted in Malta, which will be used in Malta’s efforts to address the large prevalence of obesity among Maltese nationals.

Chris Fearne noted that,”this agreement will put Malta as a leader in the WHO Small Countries project.”

This project aims to increase co-operation in the health sector between countries with a population less than 1 million.

Meanwhile, Parliamentary Secretary Dr Fearne chaired a WHO session on Climate Change and Health at WHO headquarters in Geneva.
