590km in first 4 days for Gozo CCU Foundation charity cycle rideAt the end of day four yesterday, Louis Debattista had covered 590km on his charity fund raising cycle ride for the Gozo CCU Foundation.

Louis left from Harpenden, Luton, in the UK last week and his route has taken him through Holland, into Germany with Switzerland to come, and then on to his destination to Lake Como in Italy, where he is due to arrive in early August, cycling a total of around 1,420Km. Louis had decided not to go through Sweden on this trip.

There are five days and 820km to go. Yesterday Louis completed 152km, with rain for the last 10km start raining but made it to Bacharach in Germany before the rain got too heavy.

Today he will be cycling 149km to Karlsruhe,.which is the second-largest city in the state of Baden-Württemberg, in southwest Germany. They are doing around 100km non-stop. Louis said “it’s hard to carry all the stuff so we decided to take out the carrier, the bag and some other items to lighten the load.. It’s been good ride flat the last 3 days but the hard long hills or mountains on there way!”

The opportunity is still there to sponsor Louis for the cycle challenge in aid of the CCU Foundation. He said “please, help this worthy cause, and you can do so by sending a donation in the form of a cheque made out to ‘The CCU Foundation,’ which can be sent to Louis Debattista at, “The Dusty house” Triq Ta Cini, Qala Gozo QLA-2020, or email me Louismalti@aol.com or call me on 99609845. We need to look out for ourselves and what our country needs.”

Louis is hoping some locals will contribute, so far only 3 donations have come from Gozo!

The Foundation’s next project is to raise funds to purchase 2 ventilators for the CCU ward to add to the 2 that have already been donated by the Foundation.
