Jum l-Gharb 2014 is being commemorated on Friday, the 29th of August, starting with a Thanksgiving Mass at Gharb Parish Church, which will be followed by a cultural evening in Pjazza Zjara tal-Madonna.

There will be a presentation of awards and certificates. Different awards are being presented, in particular the, ‘Premju Gharb’ (Gharb Award), ‘Premju Qlub Generuzi,’ (Award for Generosity) and ‘Premju Volontarjat Lokali’ (Volunteering Award).

Wreaths will be laid in front of the Bishop Molina Monument.

The Visitation Band of Gharb will participate during the events and entertainment for the evening includes dancing, performances by local talent, as well as a production by the Gharb Stage Christophers in collaboration with the Gharb Local Council

The Council will also be inaugurating a recently restored World War II shelter in the square, completed as part of the M323 project financed under the Rural Development Funds.

Visitors will have the opportunity to visit the shelter after the opening.

The event is organised by Gharb Parish with the collaboration of the Gharb Local Council.
